RECEPTION HELPFUL HINTS
Begin looking for your reception site immediately. As soon as the engagement is announced, the first decision that needs to be made is where to hold the reception. Meet with your officiant to find out the days and times that are available for your church or wedding site. After setting a tentative date, begin to look for your reception site.
BE FLEXIBLE
If you are insistent about a certain date and time, you may spend weeks searching all over town for a place that can accommodate your needs. By the time you finally discover that no options are available on that day and time, your first choice in recpetion areas will probably be booked on your alternate dates also.
DEPOSITS ARE IMPORTANT
Remember that when you reserve a facility, a deposit is usually required. Even though you thought your date was secure, it may be that the site is not formally reserved until a deposit is received. Many brides have lost their reception site by overlooking this fact.
HOST OR HOSTESS FOR YOUR WEDDING
Ask someone to be the host or hostess for the reception if you don't have a Wedding Consultant or Coordinator. The family usually doesn't arrive at the reception until after the guests. If you have a host or hostess to greet the guests and direct them to the guest book, coat rack or bar, then they will feel more comfortable.
RECEIVING LINE
Sometimes it is difficult to get the flow of a receiving line started at the reception. You may want to alert four to five couples to watch for the bride and groom's arrival. Then they can quickly form a line to get the flow of the receiving line started. If you choose not to do a receiving line, it is your obligation to greet each guest at the reception.
