Top 10 Wedding First Dance Songs

Main Photo

The idea of the first dance at a wedding is for the married couple, to open the dance floor up to the rest of the reception. Because the dance is intended to open the dance floor for all guests, it is considered inappropriate for guest to dance prior to the new couples first dance. Sometimes the first dance is omitted at a wedding when there is no dancing planned, however some couples enjoy the tradition of the “first dance”. Although traditionally the wedding dance was commonly a waltz, today you will see a variety of dances including foxtrot, merengue, swing, or more common a “slow dance”.

The first dance at your wedding may be the most important dance of your life — or at least the most meaningful. So picking just the right song to accompany your first married moves is of the utmost importance. Here is a playlist of first dance songs recommended by Courney Lathom of Flip Flop Sounds.

1. “I Won’t Give Up” by Jason Mraz
