I stayed late into the evening and patiently stumbled into a great back-lit shot of the reception. I'm inspired by details like this that "tell the story." This shot was taken at 10 pm at Canon Beach. Remote studio lighting was used with a Canon 5D Mark 2. Composition aimed at reflection, illuminating a rim light on couple, proper exposure for moody sky, and an authentic expression. JOS

I photographed this image after running up a fire escape in the Pearl District in downtown Portland. I peered through the railing with my 24-70 lens and captured a real moment between Holly and Lynn. We were on the way to the reception on the Portland Spirit following the ceremony at the St. Mary's Cathedral. This image was given Accolades of Excellence at the 2008 WPPI print competition in Las Vegas.
