Guest Blog: Tasks For the Mother of the Groom

Ways to Include the Mother of the Groom:

You want to make sure the Mother of the Groom feels involved in the wedding festivities, but sometimes it is difficult coming up with just what to have her do! Traditionally the grooms family plans and pays for the rehearsal dinner. This can be a small or large job, depending on size of the wedding party. She can help with hotel room blocks and reservation options for out of town family and friends. The MOG (Mother of the Groom) should also follow up with RSVPs on the groom’s side of the family.

If you are looking for a specific job to help her feel involved you could assign her to find items you will need for the wedding.  Perhaps she could pick out the guestbook with good black pens, toasting flutes, a cake knife, the unity candle, a cake topper or select ceremony readings.  Just make sure that you assign her something that you will be fine with…whatever she selects.

Before delegating any tasks, simply ask how much your future mother in law wants to be involved. Depending on how much she wants to be involved will determine what tasks and how many tasks you’ll assign her.
