Join ecoShuttle for “Dawn of the Bed” Fundraising Party.

April 25, 2011

ecoShuttle, a sustainable charter bus company based in Portland, OR, is excited to announce that it is planning a fundraising party at their new location.  The soiree, is an effort to promote ecoShuttle’s participation in Portland’s Growing Gardens’ program, Dawn of the Bed; the company is holding the family-friendly party at their lot, located at 2420 NE Columbia Boulevard, in northeast Portland.  Party-goers can expect to find live music, delicious food, beer, wine, a silent auction, crafts and more.

The goal is for everyone to have a great time, but also to raise money for local 501c3 Growing Gardens.  Growing Gardens “Dawn of the Bed” event raises funds for low income families in our area and the ecoShuttle team will be building a raised bed for one family on May 7th.  The money raised will provide the family with tools, supplies and workshops so they can have a productive garden for the next three years.  As participants, the ecoShuttle staff’s task is to get the gardens up and going.  The aim of the party is to raise donations to reach the $600 dollar goal that helps pay for the gardening supplies and support for low income families.

According to Fiona Mitchell, the event coordinator and ecoShuttle’s Director of Marketing and Sales, “ecoShuttle has always been dedicated to environmental sustainability, but we also have a strong commitment to the sustainability of families, and our neighbors in the community.

The party starts Sunday, May 1st at 12:00pm and goes until 5:00pm, and ecoShuttle is hoping for a large turnout to assist them with this relevant cause.

Purchasing Your Oregon Marriage License, by Rev. Maureen Haley, Portland Wedding Officiant

April 18, 2011

Your legal wedding in Portland requires a valid Oregon Marriage License.  In years of experience as a busy Portland wedding officiant, 2% of the time the county official forgets to sign box 28 on your license.  This is the authorizing signature from the state of Oregon, which gives me authority to legally marry you, so I suggest you check box 28 before you leave the marriage license office at the county.

Here’s the general process for purchasing your marriage license in Oregon, and every county has slightly different requirements for your marriage license, so check with them first.

  1. You obtain your application from ANY one of the 36 counties in Oregon, to be married anywhere in Oregon.
  2. You fill out the application, sign it and return it to the same county office where you got your application and purchase your license for about $60.
  3. The original legal copy of your marriage license is the long form you filled out and signed and you will give that to your wedding officiant before your wedding ceremony.
  4. You will keep the decorative ceremonial Oregon marriage certificate, which is the one with the state seal, which you and your witnesses, along with your wedding minister or officiant, will have signed after your ceremony.
  5. Your Oregon wedding officiant is required to return the completed legal marriage license to the county where you purchased it.
  6. About two weeks after your wedding you go back to the county where you started, and you purchase a Certified Copy of your marriage license which has been recorded in the county and state records.
  7. After all of that, you begin your name change process with your Certified Copy of your Oregon marriage license.

Maureen Haley, Portland Wedding Officiant, loves marrying happy couples in the greater Portland Oregon areas.
