Wedding Music Your Way – DJ vs Band vs Your Brothers iPod

Music can be the focus of any event or simply used as background to set the mood. Budget and your party’s goals can  help you determine which kind of music you want. None of these options is right or wrong, you just need to pick the best option for your event.

Live Band: This is usually he most costly music option, but can also make the event one to remember.  If you want there to be a lot of excitement, dancing, and buzz a live band in the way to go.  Expect to pay somewhere in the range of $3,000 to $5,000 for a five to seven piece band.

DMDancingDisc Jockey:  A DJ can provide excitement and dancing options without the cost of a band.  Usually a DJ will charge somewhere between  $500 and $1,500.  They should provide their own equipment, speakers and lights.  Some even have prizes and props!

“Piped” music from the facility or your brother’s iPod: Again, nothing wrong with this option.  If you don’t want dancing, you don’t need to go to the expense of live or DJ directed music options.  Just make sure the type of music you like and is appropriate for your occasion is on the devise.  Special note if you are using Pandora or a similar app, make sure you don’t have commercials!ewhere between  $500 and $1,500.  they should provide their own equipment, speakers and lights.  Some even have prizes and props!

No matter what music fits your style and budget make sure you set playlists prior to your event. Spend some time going over your expectations of song sets, the mood you want to set, specific songs for your first dance or your grandparents favorite.  As long as you provide enough lead time you should be able to organize the music, live, or recorded, exactly the way you want!
