2016 Summer Wedding Floral Trends
Flower trends for summer 2016 capture the just-picked style. As we are slowly moving away from the barn style, mason jar, Pinterest look – we head into the warehouse, open space, long table look and there is movement away from the monotonous 60-inch round table in the banquet hall. With long stretches of wooden plank picnic-style format comes a continuous run of flowers replacing the singular round “centerpiece.” Various sized arrangements clustered together – whether its a mix of vintage colored bottles or luscious arrangements, the long tables are covered. Styles span from vintage to whimsical to modern as each bride has her own taste. Popular this year are a collection of antique mismatched vessels, whether it’s old sterling silver tea ware or vintage bottles and vases.
I have noticed two color trends this year: bold and bright, and soft and muted. Hot pinks, bold yellows and oranges with purples and blues describe the bold palette, while subtle hues like blush and creams combine with darker reds and burgundies express the muted palette. Both trends fit well into the forecasted color lineup for this year: lavender, cobalt, chartreuse, light blue, buttercup, coffee, lilac gray, ivory, red and ocean.
For bouquets, tight and round give way to the organic, just picked bouquets with unusual foliage like olive branch, ferns and geranium. The wedding florals for 2016 include: peonies, dahlias, garden roses, protea, chamomile, thistle, succulents, lavender, trailing jasmine and blackberry combined with lots of greenery and herbs like basil, mint and oregano! Because brides are loving the natural look, hair will be loosely styled and soft floral wreaths will finish off their bridal attire.
