2014 Cocktail Trends from My Bartender

Yes, it is ALREADY 2014 and time to really start kicking the wedding planning into high gear.  If you’re still wondering what you’d like to do for your bar service, consider these hot trends for 2014 and beyond.  Because let’s face it; the bar really is where the party’s at.

High End Cocktail Parties:  Think Gatsby but modern. More and more wedding are moving away from the traditional plated dinners and moving into heavy appetizers and killer cocktails.  Forget the messy dinner – just dress WAY up and get swanky. And if you’re looking for the right company to make this happen for you, My Bartender now offers a full range of appetizers and hors  d’ oeuvres.  Let us help create the perfect cocktail party.

barrel aged cocktailsBarrel Aged Cocktails:  A trend we’re particularly excited about is the barrel aged cocktail.  Barrel aged cocktails are exactly as they sound: premixed cocktails that are aged in small wood barrels. Not only will you get a killer batch of cocktails that will have your guests talking, but these little barrels are super cute and make for a great visual experience. If you’re planning on doing this for your wedding, experiment early on and try to work with more classic cocktails that don’t contain a ton of sugary ingredients, like a Negroni. Also, avoid citrus, eggs and dairy as they can spoil. Barrel aged cocktails can be aged anywhere from a few days to a month and will need to be tasted every day to ensure you’re getting exactly what you want.  So, what are you waiting for?  Start experimenting!

Brunch Cocktails: Brunch weddings are on the rise – and so are brunch cocktail bars.  Having a brunch wedding gives you the flexibility of thinking outside the box with your food – but more importantly, your bar service.  Work with a liquid caterer, like My Bartender, and go all out with a Bloody Mary bar, a Mimosa bar or even coffee cocktail bars.  Many of these ingredients for these types of drinks can be displayed as a ‘build-your-own’ cocktail station – making a visually beautiful and interactive guest experience. Consider tray passed cocktails for that extra touch of class.
